The Key Facts About Men’s Health
The Men’s Health Forum has advocated for the health of men, and they make it quite clear:
“One man in five dies before he is old enough to retire.”
Men die of every major disease younger than women before the age of retirement. Here are some of the specifics that men may face:
Heart disease. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men across the world.
Cancer. The most common types of cancer for men are prostate cancer, lung cancer, and colorectal cancer.
Mental health issues. Men are more likely than women to die by suicide. They are also less likely to seek help for mental health issues.
Chronic diseases. Men are more likely than women to develop chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity.
It is absolutely essential for men to be aware of these health concerns and to take steps to prevent them. By making informed choices, men can improve their chances of living a long and healthy life.
That’s why at Miller & Everton, providing comprehensive blood work, health investigations and even seeing a doctor is standard in our men’s health and performance packages.
Our Top Tips for Men’s Health in 2023
Eat a Healthy, Unrefined & Personalised Diet
We have a number of free resources on diet in our Circle Community, but the basics are: eliminating processed foods, eating an animal-protein rich diet (such as seafood, fish, meat, eggs and unsweetened dairy products), seasonal vegetables, fruits and limiting refined grains, added sugars and alcohol.
Get Regular Exercise
Exercise, including lifting weights and other resistance exercises, is important for both physical and mental health and building strength and muscle – a key factor in longevity.
Men need to aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise most days of the week which incorporates resistance exercise. We provide bespoke training programs as part of our Excel and Executive programs.
Get Circadian Rhythm & Sleep Fixed
Men, just like women need around 7-8 hours of sleep per night. However, their sleep quality is often poor due to overexposure to blue light-emitting devices such as LED overhead lighting, tablets, phones, and smart TVs.
We have free resources all about this ‘toxic blue light pandemic’ in our Circle Community – but why not start with dimming the lights after sunset and using blue blocking glasses when the sun goes down?
Manage Stress
Stress can have a negative impact on physical and mental health. Men should find healthy ways to manage stress – such as exercise, relaxation techniques, or spending time with loved ones.
We place a huge emphasis on the power of grounding (bare feet and hands being in contact with the earth) and sunlight to really improve stress levels at the quantum level. You can get all these tips with our free ‘Superman Protocol’ on our Circle Community.
Get Regular Checkups
It is important for men to see a doctor they trust for regular checkups, even if they are feeling healthy.
This is especially important as men get older. At Miller & Everton, we partner with the very best doctors in Harley Street to get care, when our men need it.
By following these tips, we’re confident that men can improve their overall health and well-being. Please get in touch with our friendly experts in men’s health to find out more.
