An online personal trainer or online coaching is not for every man.
I’ve worked with a variety of people in my time and can hand on heart say it is not for everyone.
It’s not for the unmotivated. For those that need hand holding. Or those that can’t push themselves in the absence of a fitness professional.
However, if the above doesn’t apply to you, it really is an effective coaching style.
Being a personal trainer for 4 years I soon came to realise that my ideal demographic (driven men that want to get in great shape and live a long life) didn’t need me on the gym floor with them. They didn’t need me to stand there and count their reps. They don’t need me to push them on sets they needed to take to failure. They did however need me in other aspects.
On that note, let’s run through the benefits of online personal training and where they needed me.
Direction
You may not need the fitness professional to count your reps but you likely need the expertise of a fitness professional to programme your training and dietitian to programme your nutrition so you can cut the nonsense and speed up your rate of progression.
Knowing how to train, what programme to use, what foods to eat and how much is imperative if you’re to make quick ground in your fitness pursuit.
Accountability
As much as direction is important, online coaching also offers accountability. Yes, we’re driven men, but even driven men need to be held accountable to their goals so they don’t slack off. A weekly check in & midweek contact can help immensely to keep you moving towards your goal.
At the end of the day, body composition progression takes consistency and time. Being consistent for 3 weeks won’t cut it. You need consistency for months on end to nail your goals.
Less anxiety
No clock watching to be at the gym for a specific time. No anxiety sat in traffic knowing you’re going to be late for your PT session. Online coaching means you can execute your plan on your schedule which removes the anxiety often associated with the process.
More cost-effective
Online coaching means you don’t need to pay for ~3 hours a week of a fitness professionals time. This makes the process a lot more economical which means you get to get in shape, for a fraction of the price.
Networking with other men
Online coaching means community. If it’s like our collective, you’ll be with like minded people. For us it’s driven gents that are at the pinnacle of their career or en route. This is not only motivating but also allows you to meet new people, some of which can become lifelong friends.
Better value for money
Online coaching can come with more than just training and nutrition plans. Health assessments can be included too. We deploy our trinity of tests on our gents that opt for our Explore or Executive package. These tests include a resting metabolic test, DEXA scan and blood test. This allows us to take the guess work out of our programming and highly individualise plans to improve the ability to optimise results.
Flexibility and freedom
Perhaps you travel a lot for work. Or like to go on holiday a lot. Online coaching allows you to stay on plan during these periods as you don’t need to commit to a personal trainer.
Faster response time
Having an online coach means you can get answers to questions at a faster rate. Social media platforms e.g. WhatsApp are a great way to give you coach accessibility so you don’t need to wait for your next session.
So, as you can see, if you’re a driven man who doesn’t need a personal trainer to stand there and count reps, online coaching is a great option. Specifically, our Engage programme would be best.
